Big dreams or big aspirations are intimidating. Sometimes they embarrass you, and you don’t mention them because you are afraid of failure, and some days, when things feel like they are going your way, it’s easier then others to speak your goals out loud.
Other days, when you’ve been running up against the same wall over and over, it’s something you keep to yourself. On those days the most transparent feeling that comes to the surface is complacency, because it’s easier and safer to say, “well at least I tried… for a bit.”
When confronted about your dreams, your defense mechanism is to laugh things off as “pipe dreams” or lofty goals. The “when I win the lottery” tone of voice is what you use to talk about them.
One day at a time.
Dreams only get a chance to become reality if you put your mind to it. Until then they are just an idea you see in your mind.
Start small. Chip away at it.
Put the work in. Be persistent. Keep your integrity close to your heart & don’t let your pride get in the way.
This is what I try to remind myself. And now I’ve put it down in words… so I can remember how big I’m supposed to be dreaming.
