“Yes. Nearly everybody gets twitterpated in the springtime. For example: You’re walking along, minding your own business. You’re looking neither to the left, nor to the right, when all of a sudden you run smack into a pretty face. Woo-woo! You begin to get weak in the knees. Your head’s in a whirl. And then you feel light as a feather, and before you know it, you’re walking on air. And then you know what? You’re knocked for a loop, and you completely lose your head!”

– Bambi, Walt Disney Productions, 1942

*Spoiler alert: Bambi’s mother dies*

This quote makes it look like the movie is in big part mostly about love and dreamy spring days walking amongst the flowers. What they don’t let you know up front is that Disney  teaches the school of hard knocks. (Life Lesson No. One: Get to Know Your Absent, Stoic and Silent Father… I think you guys are really going to like each other.)

Welcome to the first movie of my childhood.

Then again.. I don’t know what’s worse… learning about the Circle of Life and Spring Fever through the eyes of a innocent eyed deer and his woodland friends, or  from  let’s say a more modern alternative… like The Wiggles:

please tell me these guys don't know what "Twitterpated" is.

Just sayin’ ….. it’s all the same kinda weird to me. But thanks for trying guys. A for effort.

  1. Love the anthropromorphic.,symbolic , highly universal yet hauntingly foreboding quality of those early Disney movies! I wonder if Twitter knows about that smart-ass owl??

Will bake for comments!
